English singer, comedian and actor Tim Curry is best known for his role as Dr Frank-N-Furter in the musical comedy, science fiction horror movie ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ (1975). He has worked in a wide range of television, film and theatre shows, often appearing as the villain. His appearances in West End theatre include ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’ and ‘Hair’. He also acted in ‘King Arthur’ and ‘My Favourite Year’ on Broadway. His hits at the box office include ‘Anne’ (1982), ‘Legend’ (1985), ‘Clue’ (1985) and ‘Muppet Treasure Island’ (1996). He has appeared in a number of television serials of which he is best known as ‘Pennywise the Clown’ in the miniseries ‘Stephen King’s It’.
Curry’s career on television is restricted to minor roles. He had only two leads roles on television which were in the sitcoms ‘Over the Top’ and ‘Family Affair’, both of which had to be cancelled after one season as they failed to have an impact on the audience.
Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012 and has been wheelchair bound since. In recent years his performance has mainly been in animated films where he has given his voice. Besides his acting career he has three albums and 12 singles to his credit.
