Shu Qi is a Taiwanese actress and model, best known for starring in ‘Journey to the West: Conquering the Demons’ (2013) which became one of the highest grossing Chinese films of all time.
She made her film debut as ‘Sha Sha’ in the 1995 film ‘Unexpected Challenges.’ She starred in ‘Viva Erotica’ which got her first ‘Best Supporting Actress Award’ at the '16th Hong Kong Film Awards,’ in 1997.
Her first major success came in Jackie Chan starrer ‘Gorgeous’ (1999). Films such as ‘The Transporter’ (2002), ‘The Foliage’ (2004), ‘My Wife Is a Gangster’ (2006), and ‘New York, I Love You’ (2008) turned her into a mega star.
Her other popular films are ‘The Assassin’ (2015), ‘My Best Friend's Wedding’ (2016)’ and ‘The Village of No Return’ (2017). Her TV shows include ‘Romance of Red Dust’ (2004) and ‘Stephen’s Diary’ (2006). She is one of the highest paid actresses in China.
