American actor and race car driver Patrick Dempsey debuted in acting with stage production of ‘Torch Song Trilogy.’ He started featuring on both big-screen and small-screen in the mid-1980s. Initially, he starred in films like ‘Can't Buy Me Love’ (1987), and ‘Loverboy’ (1989), followed by supporting roles in the 1990s. The 2002 American romantic comedy film ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ starring him emerged a super hit following which he again starred in several notable films like ‘Enchanted’ (2007) and ‘Valentine's Day’ (2010). However, he is best known for playing Dr. Derek Shepherd in the American medical-drama television series ‘Grey's Anatomy’ (2005–2015) that won him Screen Actors Guild Award (2006, 2007) and People's Choice Awards (2007, 2008, 2015).
Patrick had to strive in showbiz when his career took a downturn in the 1990s that saw him doing smaller roles. He, however, regained his position later playing some of the best roles of his career.
