

George Burns was an American actor, singer, comedian, and writer who rose to fame with the ‘Burns and Allen show’ on radio, in 1929. He hosted the show with Gracie Allen, whom he married later. The couple’s popularity on radio got them a TV show titled ‘The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show’ (1950), which became one of the most popular TV shows of all time.Â
He also appeared in several films, such as ‘International House’ (1933), ‘A Damsel in Distress’ (1937) and ‘College Swing’ (1938).
He took a break from acting due to heart problems but made a comeback with films like ‘The Sunshine Boys’ (1975), ‘Oh, God!’ (1977), ‘Just You and Me, Kid’ (1979) and ‘18 Again!’ (1988).Â
He won an ‘Academy Award’ for his performance in ‘The Sunshine Boys.’ His last appearance came in the 1994 film ‘Radioland Murders.’Â
