Matt Damon is an American actor, producer and screenwriter who gained recognition for playing the eponymous reclusive genius in the 1997 drama film ‘Good Will Hunting’, which also earned him an 'Academy Award' nomination. He followed up his success with titular roles in Steven Spielberg's war drama ‘Saving Private Ryan’ (1998) and the thriller ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ (1999).
He had a major role in the successful film series, ‘Ocean's Trilogy’ (2001-07), appearing alongside George Clooney and Brad Pitt. In 2002, he was cast in one of his best roles as Jason Bourne in the spy thriller ‘The Bourne Identity’, a role he will later reprise in three sequels. He appeared opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the Martin Scorsese crime drama ‘The Departed’ (2006) and earned an Oscar nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for his portrayal of rugby player Francois Pienaar in ‘Invictus’ (2009).
Some of the best Matt Damon films of the current decade include ‘True Grit’ (2010), ‘Elysium’ (2013) and ‘The Martian’ (2015), the last being his all-time top grossing film.
