Lily Tomlin is a well-known American actress, comedian, producer, writer and singer. Lily began her career in the 60s with her stand-up acts and Broadways and ventured into acting with ‘Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-in’ in the late 60s. She ventured into films in mid-1975 and starred in the film ‘Nashville’, for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting actress. This early career breakthrough helped her getting more roles in some notable films such as ‘All of Me’, ‘The Incredible Shrunken Woman’ and ‘The Late Show’.
Her popularity soared further with the release of her film ‘The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe’, which is widely considered to be her best career role. She ruled the box office in the 90s as she appeared in notable films such as ‘Shadows and Fogs’, ‘The Beverly Hillbillies’, ‘Blue in the Face’, ‘Short cuts’ and ‘Tea with Mussolini’. In the 2000s, she appeared in ‘The Kid’, ‘The Ant Bully’, ‘The Walker’ and ‘Star in Shorts’. She was also appreciated for her roles in the film ‘Grandma’ and series ‘Grace and Frankie’.
During the course of her acting career, Lily has appeared in some films which did not do well at the box office including ‘Lily’, ‘Getting Away with Murder’ and ‘The Walker’.
