Derek Jacobi is an English actor as well as stage director. After his film debut in 'Othello' (1965), he appeared in 'Three Sisters' (1970). This was followed by his appearances in the hits 'The Day of the Jackal' (1973), 'Dead Again' (1991), 'Love is the Devil: Study for a portrait of Francis Bacon' (1998), and 'Gladiator' (2000).
Till date, the actor has starred in several other successful movies including 'Gosford Park' (2001), 'Nanny McPhee' (2005), 'Underworld: Evolution' (2006), 'The Golden Compass' (2007), 'The King's Speech' (2010), 'Cinderella' (2015) , 'Murder on the Orient Express' (2017) and 'Tomb Raider' (2018). Also, he has only a few flop movies under his belt. Some of Derek Jacobi's worst films are 'The Human Factor' (1979), 'There Be Dragons' (2011), 'Effie Gray' (2014), 'The History of Love' (2016) and 'Tolkien' (2019).
As a television actor, he has contributed to numeous programs including 'The Pallisers' (1974), 'I, Claudius' (1976), 'The Civil War' (1990), 'Cadfael' (1994-1998), 'Mist: The tale of a Sheedog Puppy' (2007-2009), 'In the Night Garden' (2007-2009) and 'Last Tango in Halifax' (2012- present). Jacobi has also acted in the television films 'Inside the Third Reich' (1982), 'The Tenth Man' (1988), 'Breaking the Code' (1996), 'London' (2004) and 'The Old Curiosity Shop' (2007).
