

Charles Aznavour, a French-Armenian singer known as the Frank Sinatra of France, also had a lengthy and diverse parallel acting career. Starting out as an extra in the 1936 film 'La Guerre des gosses', he played a small part in the 1946 French drama 'Goodbye Darling'. He had a starring role in the 1960 film 'Tirez sur le pianiste' and went on to act in successful movies like 'La Tête contre les murs', 'Les Dragueurs', 'Le Testament d'Orphée', 'Un taxi pour Tobrouk', 'Thomas l'imposteur', 'Paris au mois d'août', and 'Le Temps des loups'.
One of his best performances was in the 1974 movie 'And Then There Were None'. He also had a major supporting role in the 1979 film 'The Tin Drum', which won the 'Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film' the following year. His recent filmography includes major roles in 'Ararat' (2002) and 'The Colonel' (2006).
