

Broderick Crawford was an American actor and radio performer, best remembered for his portrayal of ‘Willie Stark’ in ‘All the King's Men’ (1949). He won an ‘Oscar’ as well as a ‘Golden Globe Award’ for his groundbreaking role. He also starred as ‘Dan Mathews’ in the popular TV series ‘Highway Patrol’ (1955–1959). He started performing in theatre during the 30s. His most popular ‘Broadway’ production was ‘Of Mice and Men’ (1937), after which he moved to Hollywood. Crawford made his screen debut in the film ‘Woman Chases Man’ (1937). Some of his successful films were ‘Beau Geste’ (1939), ‘Start Cheering’ (1938), ‘I Can’t Give You Anything But Love, Baby’ (1940), ‘A Night Before Christmas’ (1942), ‘Born Yesterday’ (1950), ‘New York Confidential’ (1955), and ‘The Uppercrust’ (1981). Some of his least successful films are ‘The Vulture’ (1941), ‘Ransom Money’ (1970), ‘The Yin and Yang of Mr. Go’ (1978), and ‘There Goes the Bride’ (1980).

Impressed with hit-man Nick Magellan’s skills, New York’s organized crime boss Charlie Lupo hires him and the two form a bond.
