Angela Bassett is best-known for playing biographical movie roles. She was nominated for an ‘Academy Award’ for her performance in biopic ‘What’s Love Got to Do With It,’ where she portrayed Tina Turner and for which she also won a ‘Golden Globe Award.’ Some of Bassett’s other notable works include, ‘The Jacksons: An American Dream’ where she portrayed Katherine Jackson, ‘Betty & Coretta’ where she was seen as Coretta Scott King, ‘Malcolm X and Panther’ where she starred as Betty Shabazz and ‘Notorious’ where she was seen playing the role of Volletta Wallace.
Some of her other successful films are ‘London Has Fallen,’ ‘Green Lantern,’ ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ etc. She bagged in her first ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nomination in 2002 for ‘The Rosa Parks Story’ in which she played Rosa Parks. Her second ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nomination came with ‘American Horror Story: Coven’ where she was seen in recurring role. She has also bagged in a number of nominations and won awards for her phenomenal performances in various movies, including ‘Music of The Heart,’ ‘The Score,’ ‘Meet The Browns,’ ‘How Stella Got her Groove Back,’ ‘Akeelah and the Bee,’ ‘Jumping the Broom,’ etc.
